Keeping the Peace That Passes Understanding

These days it can be difficult to remain in peace. We take our eyes off of Jesus and focus on what is happening around us.

Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, and lately impatient, I know I need more of God’s Word. The Bible says in Romans 12:2  Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of  God-His good, pleasing and perfect will.

We complicate things and get anxious and try to focus on the plan instead of on our Saviour  He often reminds me that I am to seek Him first and the rest will follow in time. I am learning to listen to this more. I can be impatient and want to figure out what to do to make something to happen faster… when I often need to  trust Jesus and renew my mind in His word. There is peace in even writing that: trust Jesus and renew my mind in His word.

It’s so simple that I forget or feel like it’s not enough or I should worry and be anxious. I want to control circumstances and force things to happen. However that doesn’t serve me.  This is the opposite of peace and resting in Him.

Jessie Duplantis said in one of his sermons years ago that (my paraphrase) God puts what we need on the low branches. Not on the branches that are way up at the high where it’s difficult or impossible to reach. That has stuck with me all of these years because it’s true. What we need is always on the low branches.

Simple isn’t it? Renewing our minds with God’s word and letting Him fill us with his peace & rest in Him?

I encourage you and myself writing this to remember to have the peace that passes understanding. It’s always there for us to take we just have to do it.

Have a good day friend.
